1998 Atlanta Linux Showcase Exhibitor Information
- When: Friday October 23 - Saturday October 24, 1998. Exhibit
hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Talks run concurrently. This show follows NetWorld+Interop 98 Atlanta.
- Where: Atlanta Apparel Mart (part of the AmericasMart Atlanta exhibition and conference facilities) in downtown Atlanta, GA. Ample parking and a wide variety of hotels, public transportation and entertainment are available within walking distance.
- Setup: Thursday October 22, starting at noon until 10:00PM. Complimentary speaker, volunteer and vendor appreciation dinner starts at 8:00PM.
- Expected Attendance: 1000 - 2000 people.
- Registration Deadline: Please contact us by October 1, 1998 for booth reservations. After the registration deadline, booth prices will include a late registration charge, and you will not be listed in the show guide.
- Advertising and Publicity: We will be advertising the show in the following national publications:
- Linux Journal 1998 Buyer's Guide
- Linux Journal 6 issues (May, June, July, August, September, October)
- Boardwatch Magazine 5 issues (June, July, August, September, October)
- Sys Admin 5 issues (June, July, August, September, October)
Our show is also listed in online and printed show calendars (for example TechWeb), and we are notifying Linux and Unix users groups around the country as well as posting announcements to comp.os.linux.announce.
Ads have also been placed in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, and we have underwriting spots on WABE, the local NPR station.
Press releases are being distributed in electronic and printed form to journalists, Linux vendors and other interested parties with help from the Linux Journal staff. Releases are also being sent out on PR Newswire.
- Product Sales: Vendors are allowed and encouraged to sell products at any time during the showcase.
If you are unable to exhibit, please consider sponsoring the show
in some way, or advertising in the show guide! There are many ways that you can have a presence at the show.
Booth Information
- Size: 10' x 10', 61 booths available. Multiple contiguous
booths can be purchased at a discount.
- Furnishings: Two 6' x 24" skirted tables and chairs, 7" x 44" sign, waste basket, pipe and drape (8' backwall, 3' dividers), carpeted show floor.
- Availability: Thursday noon - 10:00PM for setup, Friday 7:30 AM - close, Saturday 7:30 AM - close.
- Electrical Power: One single outlet extension cord is included (120V); please bring your own power strips if you need additional outlets.
- Network Connection: One 10/100BaseT ethernet connection is included (with Internet access over a T1). If you need additional network connections, please bring your own hub. You will receive IP addresses with your vendor packet at the registration desk.
- Storage: A lockable room is available nearby for secure storage, plenty of other storage space is available.
- Security: Security guards will be stationed at posts throughout the Apparel Mart. A police officer will patrol the show floor overnight for added security.

- Sending things to the show:
Please make sure that your company name and booth number are marked in large letters on any items you ship to us,
and email exhibits@ale.org to notify us of your incoming shipment.
We can start receiving packages on October 15, 1998 and must receive all shipments by close of business
on Wednesday October 21, 1998. All shipments must be sent to our warehouse facilities and will be
transported to the show site on Thursday morning. The address is:

- Sending things from the show:
Return shipments from the show must include a completed and pre-paid FedEx or UPS shipping label, or you may pre-arrange pickup by a courier of your choice. We will ship all packages back to you from our warehouse on Monday after the show. You are completely responsible for packing and sealing your shipments.
- Dropping things off:
If you want to drop off or deliver anything to the show yourself or by courier, you must unload at the loading dock. Unloading at any other place is prohibited by the Apparel Mart and will get both of us in trouble. The loading dock is located on Williams Street, and has easy access to the freight elevators. Please contact our dock master when you arrive to coordinate unloading.
- Booth Display Policy: Table top displays, signs, backdrops, as well as any booth structure suitable for a 10' x 10' booth space are allowed.
